Himeji Seminar,
I participated in Keiko for one day last Sunday in Himeji. As usual, I really enjoyed the first lesson with Nakao Sensei. The following Keiko was taken by Kobayashi Shihan. This was my third time to take practice of Kobayashi Shihan. He focused on mainly fundamental movements like irimi and tenkan. Some techniques like Ai Hanmi Katate Dori Kokyu nage and a few others were taught. He emphasis was on properly taking the balance and keeping control.
There were many Aikidokas from other dojo’s there. A lot of them I have to say, did not understand the focus on connecting with the opponent rather using strength and trying to throw hard. In this way, the people become very stiff and can not feel anything.
After training in Seibukan for some time now, I feel the ability of taking Ukemi is very high in Seibukan.
Offcourse, what a great way to end the Keiko by have a few beers, Sake and very delicious meals. It was fantastic!
